Chairman's Message

Dear Professional Colleagues,

Being elected and the occasion to rise to the post of 8th Chairman of Vapi Branch of WIRC of ICAI, brings sense of mixed feeling and emotions; of joy, of pride, of honour, and of responsibility, to me. This being my first communication to you all, first of all, I would like to place on record my sincere gratitude for the confidence reposed upon me.

When l look back the journey of our branch past 7 years, all our past Chairmen/person of this branch has raised it to glorious heights setting the very high standards. It inspires me to emulate them and carry this torch forward, like my predecessors; I would work diligently for the profession and hope to bring greater laurels to the branch. "With great powers comes great responsibility".

I would like to specifically thank, past Chairman CA. G B. Laddha and CA. Hitesh Patel who initially took me as part of subcommittee group for student 's activities, later Hiteshbhai encouraged me to join managing committee 2013-15, during that tenure, it has been indeed a pleasure to have assisted CA. Hitesh Patel, CA. Vimal Desai and CA. M D. Prajapati, who have been my mentors and guiding light.

On behalf of our Branch, I take this opportunity to congratulate the newly elected ICAI President CA. Nilesh Vikamsey, Vice President CA. Naveen N D. Gupta, Team ICAI and Team WIRC, led by CA. Vishnu Agarwal. I am sure these stalwarts will lead ICAI to greater heights of glory, and commit our wholehearted support along with good wishes to lead our noble profession.

Our Profession has seen many evolutionary changes over the last few years, Amidst the clouds of Demonetization fading away, bringing the new horizon for cashless digital economy - Digital India, laying the foundation for critical reforms in the country for, The GST, a milestone in indirect tax architecture, GST council approving the Draft CGST and IGST on 04/03/17, will hopefully reach parliament this session, Insolvency and Bankruptcy code, Convergence with IFRS etc. In such an increasingly complex, demanding, competitive and digital 2017, some of these changes will require us to upgrade the skill-sets of members to meet these challenges. Hence, we will have to unveil the changing complexities, adapt these changes to reform ourselves, to sustain professional competencies and excel in all aspects to make an impact while we grow professionally and ethically.

We look forward to a year 2017 of momentous change and opportunities - for our country as well as for the Profession - remind me the inspiring words by Gandhiji who said: "Be the change you wish to see. "

To justify the above expectation, we introduce our theme for the year,

" UNVEIL, REFORM and BE THE CHANGE "

In view of the challenges mentioned above, faced with the need to build on our core areas, the focus of the activities for the coming year shall be more on organising intensive study courses, modular programmes, and efforts to explore new avenues for members. Programmes on conventional as well as new professional Avenues shall be organised to equip our members for these and other areas of professional development. We wish to have this year an International study tour and Subject to approval from ICAI / WIRC, a National / Sub regional Conference / Tax convention at Vapi.

Students are the future of our profession and we also need to address their needs in more effective ways, apart from routine activities, we look forward to set-up Reading Rooms for better concentration in studies for students, sub-regional conference and industrial visits to broaden their horizons would be endeavoured.

Lastly, the above vision and mission will only be possible to achieve when we get good synergy from members in terms of their active participation and presence in all upcoming seminars and programmes. Seeking support of all Past Chairmen/person, members and students.

Looking forward for new challenges while serving the members and students with one of the best team support;

CA. Harinder kumar - Vice Chairman
